Basketball Recap: Bishop Ireton Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with St. John's

Bishop Ireton is ranked highly in their home state and on Wednesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of St. John. The Bishop Ireton Cardinals took a 72-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. John's Cadets. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 69-64 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Bishop Ireton dropped their record down to 11-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for St. John's, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-5.

Bishop Ireton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Our Lady of Good Counsel at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Our Lady of Good Counsel knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Bishop Ireton likes a good challenge. As for St. John's, they will be playing at home against Gonzaga at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Gonzaga will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something St. John's surely won't give up without a fight.
