Basketball Game Preview: Granite Hills Eagles vs. Grossmont Foothillers

Granite Hills and Grossmont are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Granite Hills Eagles will face off against the Grossmont Foothillers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Granite Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.7 points per game this season.

Granite Hills will head into Tuesday's matchup hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 20-point drubbing they dealt West Hills on Tuesday. Granite Hills was the clear victor by a 71-51 margin over West Hills. With the Eagles ahead 47-21 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Granite Hills' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Andre Dankha led the charge by going 7 of 16 en route to 20 points along with six boards and five steals. Another player making a difference was Lathan Fry, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

Granite Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Grossmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 50-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Valhalla.

Grossmont's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Granite Hills, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.

Granite Hills didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Grossmont in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 59-53 victory. Will Granite Hills repeat their success, or does Grossmont have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
