Baseball Game Preview: Overlake Owls vs. University Prep Pumas

For the second straight game, Overlake will face off against University Prep. Overlake will take on University Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games Overlake has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Overlake took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They skirted past University Prep 3-2. The Owls haven't had any issues with the Pumas recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

For University Prep's part, Cole Waterman was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Waterman has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he brought in this season.

Waterman wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Owen Bradley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Bradley is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Overlake's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for University Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
