Basketball Recap: George Jenkins Eagles vs. Plant City Raiders
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the George Jenkins Eagles walked away with it. They blew past the Raiders, posting a 57-12 win on the road. Winning may never get old, but George Jenkins sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
George Jenkins was led to victory by Taleah Turner and Taylor Gibson. Turner scored 12 points along with four steals, while Gibson scored 14 points along with four blocks. Another player making a difference was Ivelisse Orengo, who scored six points along with two steals.
George Jenkins is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Plant City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-21.
George Jenkins will head out on the road to take on the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Haines City is on a five-game streak of home wins, the Eagles a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Plant City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
