Recap: Purvis Tornadoes vs. Lawrence County Cougars
Even though the Purvis Tornadoes have not done well against the Lawrence County Cougars recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Purvis pulled ahead with a 61-60 photo finish over Lawrence County. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Jacoby Robinson, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Judd Gipson, who scored 11 points.
Purvis' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Lawrence County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-14.
Purvis will head out on the road to challenge Forrest County Agricultural at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Forrest County Agricultural is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Lawrence County, they will take on Wingfield at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Wingfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Tuesday.
