Basketball Game Preview: Gothenburg Swedes vs. Chase County Longhorns

Gothenburg and Chase County are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. Both will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Gothenburg fought the good fight in their overtime game against Cozad on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Haymakers by a score of 62-59. The loss continues a trend for the Swedes in their matchups with the Haymakers: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Chase County entered their tilt with Perkins County on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They managed a 58-54 victory over the Plainsmen.

Chase County pushed their record up to 6-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Gothenburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Gothenburg couldn't quite finish off Chase County in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 52-50. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Chase County's Camron Lempke, who went 6 of 12 en route to 18 points and seven boards.
