Baseball Game Preview: Eastern Montgomery Mustangs vs. Roanoke Catholic Celtics

The Eastern Montgomery Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Roanoke Catholic Celtics at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastern Montgomery has given up an average of 11.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Eastern Montgomery came up short against Grayson County on Monday, falling 18-4. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Coltin Conner made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Eastern Montgomery is 4-1 when Conner posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Mason Phoenix, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Roanoke Catholic lost 18-1 to Virginia Episcopal School on Thursday.

Eastern Montgomery now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Roanoke Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Eastern Montgomery was able to grind out a solid victory over Roanoke Catholic in their previous matchup back in March, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
