Baseball Recap: Hopewell Comes Up Short

Hopewell fell victim to Avonworth and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Antelopes by a score of 1-0. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Antelopes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Hopewell's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Avonworth, they pushed their record up to 6-1-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Hopewell will host North Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Avonworth, they will head out to face off against South Allegheny at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Antelopes 2, the Gladiators 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
