MaxPreps Winter 2012 high school soccer state champions

Yes, some states prefer to play their soccer during the winter months.

While snow and cold are usually the stereotypical winter weather, schools in some of the nation's southern parts prefer to play soccer during the winter months. Here's a look at the state champions for the states that have completed play, and the remaining teams in the areas still playing.

BOYS

Arizona
Division 1: No. 4 Hamilton (Chandler) beat No. 6 Brophy College Prep (Phoenix) 2-1 in OT. (Bracket)

California does not award a state title in soccer. Schools in Southern California play in the winter while schools up north play a less-unified schedule, with a hodgepodge of setups. There is a regional title for winter soccer and that is contested between schools from the Los Angeles, Southern, San Diego and Central sections.
