Baseball Recap: LaGrange Takes a Loss

LaGrange extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping them down to 1-19. They lost 21-0 to the Hackberry Mustangs. The Gators were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

As for Hackberry, they now have a winning record of 9-8. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Hackberry's part, Devin Murphy made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hackberry is undefeated when Murphy allows two or fewer hits, but 5-8 otherwise. Murphy was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Hackberry got a massive performance out of Lane Grey, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Grey has become a key player for the Mustangs: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Madden Spicer, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.

As of now, neither LaGrange nor Hackberry have any future games scheduled.
