Excel Christian Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Cornerstone Prep Academy Cougars with a sharp 72-52 victory. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 93-63 win the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2024.

Among those leading the charge was Jamari Gatson, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aston Chappell, who posted 11 points.

Despite the loss, Cornerstone Prep Academy still got an impressive performance from Simeon Greene, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. Greene is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season.

Cornerstone Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Excel Christian Academy will square off against Trion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cornerstone Prep Academy, they will face off against Horizon Christian Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
