Basketball Game Preview: Chester Yellowjackets vs. Sparta Bulldogs

Chester and Sparta are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Chester Yellowjackets will host the Sparta Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Chester is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Chester will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Gibault Catholic, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Chester came out on top against Gibault Catholic by a score of 49-36 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sparta, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 61-53 victory over Steeleville on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

Sparta's win came from a few key players Chester will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dariontez Monroe, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 15 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Damian Lanton, who posted 11 points.

Chester pushed their record up to 14-14 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points over those games. As for Sparta, their win bumped their record up to 17-10.
