Basketball Recap: Jesuit Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Jesuit had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 64-50 victory over the Bellarmine College Prep Bells. Given the Marauders' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Bells are ranked 129th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Asher Schroeder continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7-for-13 to rack up 26 points and eight rebounds. Those 26 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brandon Williams, who posted six points and five boards.

Jesuit has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points over those games. Bellarmine College Prep is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 17-11.

Jesuit has already played their next game, a 63-56 win against Archbishop Mitty on the 6th. Bellarmine College Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
