Softball Recap: Colbert County Wins Going Away Against Collinwood

Colbert County owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Collinwood Trojans as they made off with a 7-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Makayli Davis made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Mallory Gargis was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Hallie Holland was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Colbert County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 7-3 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Colbert County now has a winning record of 11-10-1. As for Collinwood, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Colbert County has already played their next matchup, a 10-4 win against Clements on the 7th. Collinwood has also already played their next game (against Loretto), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
