Baseball Recap: Temecula Prep Wins Going Away Against Santa Rosa Academy

Temecula Prep never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Santa Rosa Academy on Monday. They put the hurt on the Rangers with a sharp 10-1 victory. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Nikolaz Gonzalez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Scarlett, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Temecula Prep is undefeated when Scarlett posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Braden Litt, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Temecula Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Rosa Academy only posted an OBP of .385.

Temecula Prep has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Santa Rosa Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Temecula Prep will welcome San Jacinto Leadership Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots will need to watch out since the Lions have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Santa Rosa Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hamilton at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
