Football Game Preview: Fairfield/Augusta vs. Malta/Whitewater/Saco/Dodson Mustangs

Fairfield/Augusta will challenge the Malta/Whitewater/Saco/Dodson Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Fairfield/Augusta took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They breezed past Shelby to the tune of 34-0. Fairfield/Augusta's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Fairfield/Augusta can attribute much of their success to Brock Peace, who rushed for 77 yards and one TD on only eight carries, and also threw for 111 yards and one touchdown. Those 77 rushing yards gave Peace a new career-high.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Fairfield/Augusta's defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Nolan Debruycker with two. Fairfield/Augusta received some extra help from Brady Huhn, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Meanwhile, Malta/Whitewater/Saco/Dodson made easy work of Killdeer on Saturday and carried off a 36-15 victory. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Malta/Whitewater/Saco/Dodson's win came from a few key players Fairfield/Augusta will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Trooper Stiles, who picked up 47 receiving yards and a pair of scores. He was even better on defense, making 11 total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown. Another signal caller making a difference was Kazner Oxarart, who threw for 99 yards and a pair of TDs.

Malta/Whitewater/Saco/Dodson's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Fairfield/Augusta, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
