The Lake Forest Spartans will head out to challenge the Archmere Academy Auks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lake Forest knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Archmere Academy likes a good challenge.
Lake Forest is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Dover, who was ranked tenth at the time (Lake Forest was ranked eighth). The Spartans blew past the Senators, posting a 49-20 victory. Fans of the Spartans have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Lake Forest can attribute much of their success to Jack Parson, who rushed for 110 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries, and Demarion Russ, who rushed for 107 yards and two TDs on only ten carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 90 yards. Dominique Hall was in the mix as well, providing Lake Forest with two scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lake Forest was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 395 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 206 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Lake Forest didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Keylund Bailey and Lamier Wright.
Meanwhile, Archmere Academy strolled past Delaware Military Academy with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 21-6. The Auks haven't had any issues with the Seahawks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Lake Forest better keep an eye on Michael Donovan. He was instrumental in Archmere Academy's win, rushing for 115 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries, while also catching one TD. Donovan also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making two total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Lake Forest's record now sits at 3-0. As for Archmere Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Saturday's contest might be decided on the ground. Lake Forest has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 340 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Archmere Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 249.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
