Baseball Game Preview: South Warren Spartans vs. Greenwood Gators

The South Warren Spartans will face off against the Greenwood Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (South Warren 3.7, Greenwood 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

South Warren is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: University Heights, who was ranked 24th at the time (South Warren was ranked fifth). The Spartans fell just short of the Blazers by a score of 3-2 on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Spartans couldn't push the score so high this time.

Joseph Fentress made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Greenwood waltzed into their match on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 7-2.

South Warren's defeat dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Greenwood, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.

South Warren might still be hurting after the 9-2 loss they got from Greenwood in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
