Volleyball Recap: Riverside Falls Short Against Ranked James F. Byrnes

Riverside faced James F. Byrnes in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Warriors took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rebels. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rebels earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 22-25, 25-15, 25-22.

When it comes to explaining why Riverside lost, don't look at Tanner Tumblin. Despite the final result, he had 21 kills, 18 digs, four aces, and two blocks. Tumblin is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had six or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Levi Miller was another key player, getting five kills, four digs, and four aces.

This is the second loss in a row for Riverside and nudges their season record down to 8-7. As for James F. Byrnes, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9.

Riverside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against Eastside on the 10th. As for James F. Byrnes, they will challenge May River at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
