Football Recap: Segerstrom's Rushing Dominance Continues

Segerstrom extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 7-2. They walked away with a 14-7 win over the Brea Olinda Wildcats. This was payback for the Jaguars, who suffered a 30-18 defeat the last time these two teams met.

It was another big night for Ayden Morales, who rushed for 162 yards while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 35 receiving yards and one score. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 102 rushing yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Segerstrom was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 222 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 161 rushing yards in 16 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Segerstrom's defense stepped up as well, laying out Gavyn Nicholson three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Alfredo Rivas, Jullian Hernandez, and Joseph Garcia, who each picked up one sack apiece. Rivas was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles.

As for Brea Olinda, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3. Having soared to a lofty 42 points in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

Brea Olinda lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ryan Nero, who picked up 122 receiving yards and one touchdown. He got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 66 yards.

Segerstrom didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 26-6 victory against Garden Grove on the 30th. As for Brea Olinda, they are taking a road trip to face off against Esperanza at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
