Volleyball Recap: Stratford Has No Trouble Against Marathon

Stratford barely beat Marathon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Red Raiders on Tuesday. That three set margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.

Stratford never let Marathon on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-23, 25-15.

Stratford's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alaina Bangart, who had four aces and four assists.

Bangart wasn't the only good server: Stratford was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Stratford has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Marathon, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Looking ahead, Stratford will square off against Edgar at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, Marathon and Newman Catholic will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
