Football Recap: Maret Takes a Loss

After flying high against Flint Hill last Friday, Maret came back down to earth. The Frogs fell just short of the Potomac School Panthers by a score of 30-27 on Saturday. The defeat came about despite the Frogs having been up 21 in the second quarter.

Despite the loss, Maret still got an impressive performance from Trysten Johnson, who rushed for 146 yards and one TD on only 14 carries, and also threw for 183 yards and three touchdowns. Johnson is becoming a predictor of the Frogs' success: when he posts at least 100 rushing yards the team is 4-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

Sean Sutherland continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Potomac School, throwing for 351 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 55 yards on only five carries. Those 351 passing yards gave Sutherland a new career-high. Akim Iscandari was Sutherland's top target, picking up 91 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Maret's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Potomac School, their record now sits at 6-3.

Maret has already played their next game, a 50-6 win against Sidwell Friends on the 8th. Potomac School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
