Baseball Game Preview: Raceland Rams vs. Boyd County Lions

Raceland hasn't had much luck against Boyd County recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Raceland sitting on nine straight wins and Boyd County on four.

Raceland came out on top against Blazer on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Rams walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Tomcats.

Kadin Shore and Landon Bloss were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Shore pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Bloss pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. At bat, Shore went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Bloss went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Brigham Davidson was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Thacker, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Ironton typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Boyd County proved too difficult a challenge. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Fighting Tigers a 9-0 shutout. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.

Raceland's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 24-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Boyd County, their record now sits at 25-4.

Raceland came up short against Boyd County in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 6-3. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
