Basketball Game Preview: Richlands Blue Tornado vs. Fort Chiswell Pioneers

The Richlands Blue Tornado will face off against the Fort Chiswell Pioneers at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.

Richlands is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Graham on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Richlands had to suffer through a 74-45 loss at the hands of Graham. The Blue Tornado have struggled against the G-Men recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Fort Chiswell had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They had just enough and edged the Bears out 53-50. Given the Pioneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Bears are ranked 306th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fort Chiswell has also been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Richlands, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
