Basketball Recap: Parkdale Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Parkdale can now relate to. They had to suffer through a 73-45 loss at the hands of the Flowers Jaguars. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-16.

When it comes to explaining why Parkdale lost on Wednesday, don't look at Hannah Youn. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Youn has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zenai Ferebee, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

Leading Flowers to victory were Ava Redmond and Alana Joy. Redmond shot 4-for-4 from long range and dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten boards, while Joy had 13 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Joy a new career-high in assists. Brianna Steve was another key player, putting up ten points.

Parkdale's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.3 points on average over those games. As for Flowers, the win was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-2.

As of now, neither Parkdale nor Flowers have any future games scheduled.
