Softball Recap: Hernando Find Success

Hernando is still undefeated this season after their matchup against Itawamba Agricultural on Friday, but Itawamba Agricultural came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Tigers came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Indians.

Olivia Skinner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Katelyn Kirkpatrick, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2025. Graycin Higginbotham was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Hernando's victory bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Itawamba Agricultural, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 11-1.

Looking ahead, Hernando will take on Northwest Rankin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Itawamba Agricultural, they will face off against McNairy Central at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
