Basketball Recap: Pelham Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Hannah Bankston and Tee King

Pelham lost against Chelsea last Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pelham Panthers lost 62-38 to the Chelsea Hornets. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Hornets are ranked 18th).

Tee King and Hannah Bankston certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. King went 8 of 20 on her way to 20 points, while Bankston posted eight points and six boards. That was a full 52.6% of Pelham's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Pelham has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season. As for Chelsea, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 17-7.

Pelham didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-46 defeat against Hewitt-Trussville on the 18th. Chelsea has also already played their next match, a 66-41 victory against Neshoba Central on the 20th.
