Basketball Recap: Morrisania Takes a Loss

Morrisania suffered their biggest defeat since November 26, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against the South Bronx Prep Cougars, falling 93-68. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 509th, while the Cougars are ranked 41st).

Morrisania's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-7. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for South Bronx Prep, the win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morrisania will take on Bronx United at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Morrisania is facing Bronx United at the right time seeing as Bronx United is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for South Bronx Prep, they will square off against KIPP NYC College Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. South Bronx Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully KIPP NYC College Prep likes a good challenge.
