Softball Recap: Buffalo Drops Highest Score of Season Against Westwood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Buffalo). They put the hurt on the Westwood Panthers with a sharp 20-5 victory on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Bison as they're now sitting on four straight.

Skylar Parker made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Parker was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Izzie Stone, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Diane Zaldivar, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Buffalo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Buffalo pushed their record up to 10-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Westwood, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Coming up, Buffalo will challenge Mexia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bison are facing the Black Cats at the right time seeing as the Black Cats are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Westwood, they will square off against Elkhart at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Elks have averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season.
