Softball Game Preview: Lee Williams Volunteers vs. Prescott Badgers

The Lee Williams Volunteers will face off against the Prescott Badgers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lee Williams has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lee Williams is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They came up short against Flagstaff, falling 18-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Prescott). Everything went their way against Agua Fria on Thursday as they made off with a 19-1 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Badgers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Gracie Pereira made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Belle Mazon was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Mariah Smolnikar was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Prescott always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lee Williams' defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Prescott, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.

Lee Williams was able to grind out a solid victory over Prescott in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 6-1. Do the Volunteers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Badgers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
