Basketball Recap: Edgewood Comes Up Short

Edgewood was the 40-13 winner over Quitman when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Edgewood Bulldogs might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Quitman Bulldogs an easy 54-33 win. While losing is never fun, Edgewood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 837th, while Quitman is ranked 359th).

Edgewood's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Quitman, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

When Edgewood and Quitman next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Edgewood will try to stop Palestine's three-game winning streak when the meet at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Quitman will challenge Malakoff and their nine-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
