Recap: Catholic Crusaders vs. Flint Hill Huskies
The Catholic Crusaders pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Flint Hill 61-56. While losing is never fun, Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Flint Hill is ranked third).
Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Thorne, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Josiah Rickards, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Catholic were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Catholic has fallen quite a ways from their 34-6 record last season and are now at 2-4. As for Flint Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Catholic will take on Life Christian Academy at TBD on Monday. As for Flint Hill, they will be playing at home against Georgetown Day at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Georgetown Day focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Monday.
