Baseball Recap: South Warren's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

South Warren extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping their season record up to 21-6 in the process. They put the hurt on the Hazard Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs with a sharp 15-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Brandon Perkins Jr., who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Jaxen Decker was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Hazard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-4. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this match were averaging 3.26 runs allowed.

On Hazard's side, Evan Akemon made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was Akemon's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Napier, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

South Warren and Hazard should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. The Spartans will challenge Corbin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (10 vs. 70). Meanwhile, Hazard (ranked 38th) will meet Shelby Valley (ranked 196th) at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
