Basketball Recap: Centennial Titans vs. Heritage Coyotes
Centennial lost against Heritage back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Centennial Titans fell 55-48 to the Heritage Coyotes. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 301st, while the Coyotes are ranked 18th).
Heritage's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Lomax, who went 5 for 9 en route to 25 points along with five assists and three steals. Lomax's evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikhail Patel, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points.
Centennial dropped their record down to 16-15 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Heritage, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 26-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centennial has already played their next contest (against Independence), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Heritage is taking a road trip to square off against Emerson at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Heritage has ten straight victories, Emerson has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
