Football Recap: Jefferson Township Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Jefferson Township lost against Sparta back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Falcons took a hard 54-35 fall against the Spartans. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (34), the Falcons still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Jefferson Township still got an impressive performance from Chris Connolly, who picked up 98 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 43 yards and one score. Shaun Cestra was another key player, throwing for 323 yards and three touchdowns.

Sparta found their leader in sophomore Jace Stainsen, who rushed for 141 yards and three scores on only seven carries. Another player making a difference was Shane Hoover, who threw for 207 yards and three TDs while completing 73.7% of his passes.

Jefferson Township's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Sparta, their record now sits at 6-3.

Looking ahead, Jefferson Township will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Pequannock at 7:00 p.m. As for Sparta, they will venture away from home to take on Wayne Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
