Basketball Game Preview: Corvian Community Cardinals vs. Mountain Island Charter Raptors

The Corvian Community Cardinals will take on the Mountain Island Charter Raptors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Corvian Community's offense hasn't had much luck over their past three matches, but Friday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Corvian Community is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Christ the King on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Corvian Community was outmatched by Christ the King and fell 58-24. The Cardinals were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-14.

Meanwhile, Mountain Island Charter was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Langtree Charter Academy 52-20. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-5.

Corvian Community better keep an eye on Reagan Hart. She was instrumental in Mountain Island Charter's win, almost dropping a triple-double on 15 points, nine assists, and ten steals. With that strong performance, Hart is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Kayla Fudge was another key player, putting up eight points and 11 boards.

Mountain Island Charter was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Mountain Island Charter's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-9. As for Corvian Community, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.

Corvian Community beat Mountain Island Charter 37-29 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Corvian Community since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
