Basketball Recap: Golden Piles Up the Points Against Pomona

Golden had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They breezed by the Pomona Panthers to the tune of 65-13. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Demons also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Golden to victory, but perhaps none more so than Allie Neal, who posted ten points along with seven assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave Neal a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Josie Matthews, who went 5 for 6 on her way to 10 points and five steals.

Golden smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Golden's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 16.0 points per game. As for Pomona, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Golden will look to defend their home court on Friday against Evergreen at 7:00 p.m. Golden's defense has only allowed 24.2 points per game this season, so Evergreen's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Pomona, they will be playing at home against Wheat Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pomona is facing Wheat Ridge at the right time seeing as Wheat Ridge is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
