Crew Davis Delivers Best Effort of Season

Iona Prep was led to victory by Crew Davis, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Davis rushed for 199 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per carry, and also picked up 120 receiving yards and two touchdowns, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He torched the secondary when he pulled down a catch that went for 81 yards.

The victory (which was Iona Prep's third in a row) raised their record to 4-2. Davis will have a chance to log another big game when he takes on Cardinal Hayes on Friday.

A Season-Best Performance from Gary Merrill Leads St. Anthony's over Iona Prep

On Friday, St. Anthony had to settle for second even though Gary Merrill put up the best numbers he has all season. Merrill rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes. The performance marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in September of 2023.

Iona Prep had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Merrill it was a similar story. Merrill rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes the last time he and the Gaels duked it out back in September of 2023.

Anthony Terilli Turns in Another Game with at Least Five Total Tackles

Sadly, Anthony Terilli posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Archbishop Stepinac over Chaminade on Sunday. Terilli wasn't messing around, picking up a sack and making 18 total tackles (4.0 for loss). The matchup was his 11th straight with five or more total tackles dating back to last season.

Archbishop Stepinac is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6. Terilli and Archbishop Stepinac will square off against St. Peter's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Guzman Made His Presence Known in Iona Prep's 48-40 Win

Another Iona Prep player making an appearance on this list is Julian Guzman. He threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 35 yards.

For the season, Guzman has thrown 9 touchdowns while averaging 185.5 passing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 0.5 passing yards per game.
