Baseball Game Preview: Salinas Cowboys vs. Monterey Dores

For the second straight game, Salinas will face off against Monterey. The Cowboys will be playing at home against the Dores at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Salinas and Monterey, and Salinas kept the tradition alive. The Cowboys had just enough and edged out the Dores 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cowboys have posted since April 30, 2024.

Jordan Isla made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Salinas is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-10 otherwise. Isla was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gavin Rainey, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Salinas lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Monterey dropped their record down to 7-13 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 3.5 runs. As for Salinas, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.
