Basketball Recap: Christopher Stoddart Key Part of a Team Effort in Mustangs Win

After losing to Wesley Chapel the last time they met, Mitchell decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Mitchell Mustangs came out on top against the Wesley Chapel Wildcats by a score of 64-51 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Mitchell got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Christopher Stoddart out in front who went 8 for 12 on his way to 20 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Cayden Thomas, who went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

Mitchell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Wesley Chapel still got an impressive performance from Sian Morris, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 23 points and six boards. The matchup was Morris' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Hicks, who posted ten points.

Mitchell now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Wesley Chapel, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6.

Mitchell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-44 loss against Countryside on the 22nd. As for Wesley Chapel, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 66-55 defeat against Lakeland on the 23rd.
