Baseball Recap: Greencastle Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Greencastle came out on top against Owen Valley on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Tiger Cubs had just enough and edged out the Patriots 6-4. The victory was familiar territory for the Tiger Cubs, who have now won three games in a row.

Nathan Sutherlin made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jayce Spidel was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Sam Gooch was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Greencastle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Greencastle's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Owen Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
