Recap: Jefferson Mustangs vs. Burbank Bulldogs
The Jefferson Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were dealt a 63-14 loss at the hands of Burbank. Jefferson was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-8.
It was another big night for Zara'nique Nealy, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 steals for Burbank. The game was Nealy's third in a row with at least ten points. Savannah Botello was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.
Jefferson has not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Burbank, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-6.
Jefferson will head out on the road to face off against Alamo Heights at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Alamo Heights focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. Burbank will be home for the holidays to greet Lanier at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lanier will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1270th, while Burbank is ranked 325th).
