Basketball Recap: Oberlin Takes a Loss

If Oberlin was feeling good fresh off their 66-44 takedown of Black River last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Oberlin The Phoenix came up short against the Central Christian Comets on Tuesday, falling 71-51. The The Phoenix were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Defeat or not, Oberlin got some senior leadership from Josiah Bowen-Pride and Julian Anderson. Bowen-Pride went 7 for 16 en route to 16 points and eight boards, while Anderson went 8 of 14 on his way to 19 points. The match was Bowen-Pride's fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Oberlin's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Central Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Oberlin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-54 victory against Wellington on the 17th. Central Christian has also already played their next match, a 75-66 win against Loudonville on the 18th.
