Volleyball Recap: Gresham Community Takes a Loss

Gresham Community's tournament run continued when they took on Butternut on Tuesday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Midgets by a score of 2-1. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Midgets 25-20 in the first set.

Gresham Community started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-19, 15-11.

Their offense was headlined by Addison Fischer and Bristol Pingel, who picked up four kills apiece. Fischer really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with eight. Pingel was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Lizzie Pritzl was nothing short of spectacular for Butternut: she had nine digs, five kills, and three aces.

Gresham Community's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Butternut, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gresham Community will venture away from home to take on Northland Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Gresham Community's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Butternut, they are taking a road trip to face off against Chequamegon at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
