Soccer Game Preview: Wakefield vs. McLean

The Wakefield Warriors will square off against the McLean Highlanders at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Wakefield's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Wakefield is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against South County last Thursday. The Warriors fell just short of the Stallions by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, Wakefield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 220th, while South County are ranked 76th).

Meanwhile, McLean narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Fairfax 2-1.

Wakefield's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for McLean, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
