While Chris Gioia delivered a dominant performance on Friday, a win just wasn't in the cards for Rutherford. Gioia struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk), good enough for us to rate the performance as the best he's had all season long. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Coming up, Gioia and Rutherford will square off against St. Mary at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The last time these two faced off, Gioia and Co. were forced to settle for a 7-2 loss.
