Preview: Wendover Wildcats vs. Altamont Longhorns

Wendover has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Altamont Longhorns at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Altamont took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Wendover, who comes in off a win.

You can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Wendover's strategy against the Miners on Saturday. Wendover strolled past the Miners with points to spare, taking the game 76-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Wendover got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Efren Delmuro out in front who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Shawn Duboise, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Altamont's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 11th straight loss. They fell 56-49 to Tintic.

Wendover pushed their record up to 15-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Altamont, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

Everything came up roses for Wendover against the Longhorns in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 80-53 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Altamont's Grayson Panas, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Wendover still be able to contain Panas? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
