Volleyball Recap: Randolph Cardinals vs. Plainview Pirates

Randolph was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Plainview Pirates. The Cardinals were not able to make up for their loss to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-14.

Abbey Backer paced Randolph's offense, picking up four kills. Backer got some help from Brooke Meier and her seven assists. Meier also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Alexis Backhaus, each putting up two.

Randolph's defeat dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Plainview, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

Plainview didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Wynot on the 14th. Hopefully Randolph paid attention to the Pirates' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
