Recap: Lawrence County Cougars vs. Purvis Tornadoes
The Lawrence County Cougars came tearing into Friday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Purvis by a score of 38-28. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Lawrence County also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Purvis lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lillee Crider, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of A'Niyah Reynolds, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Lawrence County is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Purvis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lawrence County will take on Columbia at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbia will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive. As for Purvis, they will head out on the road to take on Forrest County Agricultural at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forrest County Agricultural is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
