Softball Recap: Orting Has No Trouble Against Foss

Orting was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Foss on Thursday. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 18-3 victory. Considering the Cardinals have won five games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kathryn Prest and Madalynn Halte did most of the damage at the plate: Prest went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Halte went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Prest has posted since back in April of 2024. Alex DeGraw was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Orting's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.7 runs over those games. As for Foss, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Looking ahead, Orting will head out to face off against Steilacoom at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Sentinels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.67 runs per game on average), something the Cardinals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Foss, they will host Fife at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
